John Zappa has been the Brewmaster of the Stevens Point Brewery since 1976. After attending the University of Minnesota, John qualified for entrance into Chicago's famous Siebel Institute for Brewing Studies. In 1976, at the age of 27, John joined the Stevens Point Brewery as Brewmaster.

During his career as Brewmaster, John has received more than 25 awards for developing high-quality handcrafted beers. The Brewery's current line-up includes Point Special Lager, Point Classic Amber, Point Horizon Wheat, Point White Biére, Point Spring Bock, and Point Premium Root Beer. He recently reformulated the Augsburger Brands into all malt Bavarian-style lagers. The Brewery was awarded two Gold Medals at the 2003 Great American Beer Festival for Point Special Lager and Augsburger Golden.

John is a member of the Institute of Brewing Studies, Master Brewers Association (since 1975) and panel member for MBAA Short Brewing Courses at the UW- Madison. Does he like talking beer? You bet. "I just love talking to folks about beer and brewing -- it's one of the best parts of my job" says John.
